Wheel of Life
A Beautiful Bumpy Ride
When I was first introduced to the world of “life coaching”, one of the primary tools to get started on the path of getting to know yourself, is an exercise called the Wheel of Life. It is a visual to see where you are at, with your level of satisfaction, within your own life.
As the coaching world has evolved over the years, I am discovering that a lot of new coaches have never heard of this tool. But you see, I first became interested in life coaching, as a profession, in the late 1990s. Thomas Leonard is credited with founding the first formal training program in the mid-1990s. I believe, as he did, that “everyone could and would develop a coaching approach to their own lives” but, I digress.
The Wheel of Life is divided into categories that you rate your current level of satisfaction in. The original format, that I use today, used the following categories:
Health & Well-Being
Work & Career
Money & Abundance
Friends & Family
Home Environment
Significant Other
Personal Growth
Fun & Recreation
Within each category on the wheel, you rate your level of satisfaction from one to ten. One being in the center…
