Best descriptions Ive heard is something you notice but it doesnt connect deeply or personally is a coincidence - like you are reading an article about the Beatles in a waiting room and the receptionist calls on George Harrison.
A synchronicity however often answers questions or gives direction to something we asked before it appears, and we just "know". There is no need to interpret.
