Thank you for your comment leading me to this post. I also want to clarify my position. My comment on Greg's post about writing stated you were on the EDGE of spamming with your newsletters. I never marked your emails as spam, and had first responded directly via email with no answer. I still hold the highest regard for you, Dr. MY, you have the best of intentions! I know that. However, with your expansive growth, your volunteers need to take a step back and go to basics of newness again. If you research the rules on SPAM - using a list four years old can be considered SPAM - you have to provide new terms for opt-in at the TOP of an email along with clear direction to the unsubscribe. Since the unsubscribe is at the bottom and the newsletters are quite lengthy, you have to go through two links to find the unsubscribe. And while that is a substack feature, not illuminations, it is still the responsibility of your staff to protect YOUR image. The reason I used the statement SHAME on them, it more directed to those that are supporting you. The length of articles, newsletters, and such immediately gives the impression of spamming. Best practices to avoid spam tags is 20 lines of text or 200 to 500 words -- when you have more to say than that, you need to link elsewhere to provide a choice to the reader. You sir, are a great man, and I admire your tenacity to help others, and I apologize if I hurt your feelings directly. Perhaps, going beyond the hurt feelings, to look at the criticism through a different lens and shoot for an understanding. I would love to discuss this with you further, or even a member of your team. As you know, I personally have had several issues that occurred over the last year, which of course had nothing to do with YOU but from actions of your volunteer editors. You are only one person, and I know from my own experiences, not everyone has the same intentions or heart that we may have, so we need to put systems in place to ensure that our intentions are clear and follow a path of support and giving nature.
