I have to disagree somewhat. Its an extreme fine line of one to the other. Somatic responses are feelings. Soma means body. Yes, labels (emotions) can trigger a somatic response but in my opinion that is the fine line of awareness and where change occurs. Our bodies hold memories far beyond our ability to label them. Fear for example. Your body immediately responds with the body response of fight, flight or freeze way before you identify with being scared or fearful. (the label). Or lets look at anger. An emotion. (Actually, its a secondary emotion, but that's another story) Your body responds first with a swirl of energy, before its labeled anger. Often, the body's response is so strong, we act to release the feeling and bypass the label until later.
