I believe it is more to do with the increased amount of self-awareness.

… interaction, I will feel more energized rather than drained. Perhaps this doesn’t relate to aging, but to an increased amount of self-awareness. Or perhaps, with experience, I’ve become more picky about what is worth my time and what isn’t.
